STAUNTON – Grace Christian School went to the half trailing 24-17, but a 22-2 edge in the third quarter was more than enough as the Warriors defeated United Christian 49-42 Monday in the quarterfinal round of the VACA North Region playoffs.
Isaiah Cline tallied eight points in the third quarter and Caleb Cashion added six as the Warriors took control, turning a seven-point halftime deficit into a 13 -point advantage.
Cline led the Warriors with 20 points and Cashion scored 14. Toby Schmandt added seven points and pulled down a team-leading 12 rebounds. Cashion added six assists.
The victory moves Grace Christian on to the semifinals. The Warriors will play Regents School on Friday at 8:00 p.m. at the Grace Christian Activities Center.
