Buffalo Gap senior pitcher Caroline Alger was named to the Class 1 All-State Softball First Team released Thursday.
Alger helped lead the Bison to the Region 1B championship and a spot in the state tournament where Gap lost in the semifinals. Alger will continue her playing career at Christopher Newport University.
Four of her Bison teammates were named to the second team including senior catcher Bailey Talley, a Randolph-Macon commit, and junior outfielder Hannah Coffman. The future looks bright for the Bison as a pair of freshmen, shortstop Rachel Showalter and power-hitting first baseman Elissa Caricofe also made the second team.
