Area T&F Athletes Ranked Among the Best in Virginia

Milestat.com just released its Top 100 rankings in Virginia for each event in each class. Several local athletes cracked the Top 10.

In Class 2 boys, Stuarts Draft’s Landon Graber topped the charts in the shot put and Fort Defiance senior Jeffrey McLaughlin soared the highest in the pole vault.

Graber’s throw of 54-8 in the shot was the best in Class 2 while McLaughlin’s vault 0f 14-1 ranked No. 1

Graber also ranked No. 5 in the 300 hurdles (40.97) and No. 7 in the triple jump (43-2).

Draft’s Derrick Moore cracked the Top 10 in three events – No. 3 in the 110 hurdles (15.16), No. 5 in the 300 hurdles (40.21) and No. 10 in the triple jump (42-8).

The top pole vaulters lived in the Shenandoah District with seven athletes ranking among the Top 12. In addition to McLaughlin at the top, Riverheads’ Jackson Fitzgerald and Fort’s Carson Wright were tied for second with a best vault of 11 feet. Draft’s Zach Floyd and Riverheads’ Storm Parker and Tristian Tallon were all tied for fourth with a best of 10-6. Riverheads’ Haze Williams cleared 9-6 to tie for 10th.

Fort’s Parker Blosser ranked No. 2 in the 1600 with a time of 9:44.67.

Riverheads’ Jeffrey Burruss was tied for No. 7 in the high jump, clearing 6-2.

In the discus, Riverheads’ Noah Keller ranked No. 9 (141-5) and Draft’s Baylor Graber was No. 10 (140-4).

In Class 2 girls, Fort’s Taylor Cubbage ranked No. 1 in both the high jump (5-5) and the 400 (58.44). Cubbage was also No. 8 in the 200 with a time of 26.80.

Riverheads’ Verity Jordan was ranked No. 7 in the 800 (2:27.49) and No. 10 in the 400 (1:03.02).

In the 100 hurdles, Riverheads’ Alexis Sacra was No. 6 with a time of 16.94 and Draft’s Anna Callo was No. 8 with a best of 17.26.

Fort’s Camila Cruz checked in at No. 7 in the 1600 with a time of 5:28.19.

Draft’s Takota Moore was No. 4 in the shot put with a best throw of 36 feet.

Fort’s Liva Clinedinst cleared 5 feet to rank No. 5 in the high jump.

Like the boys, the best vaulters resided in the Shenandoah with Draft’s Anna Callo ranking No. 1 with a best vault of 11 feet. Riverheads’ teammates Sacra and Olivia Keller were tied for second, each clearing 9 feet. Draft’s Blanca Quintero and Riverheads Andie Mays and Jenna Grimmer tied for ninth as each cleared 6-6.

In Class 3 girls, Wilson’s Desi Mensah ranked among the state’s top sprinters. She was No. 3 in the 100 (12.02) and No. 4 in the 200 (24.96)

Waynesboro’s Jordan Smith was No. 5 in the discus (113-8) and her Little Giants’ teammate Skylar Sloat cleared 10-6 in the pole vault to rank No. 5.

Wilson’s Katie Lawhorn cleared 5 feet to rank No. 7 in the high jump.

Among the Class 3 boys, Staunton’s Thomas Chisley ranked No. 3 in the triple jump (46-5) and Waynesboro’s Trent Snyder ranked No. 3 on the pole vault, clearing 15 feet.

Waynesboro’s Dylan Colander was No. 9 in the 1600 with a time of 4L22.87.
