Buffalo Gap Friday closed its home season and celebrated Senior Night with a 37-7 Shenandoah District victory over Waynesboro.
Facing a Class 3 foe for the fourth-straight week and the sixth time this season, the Bison posted touchdowns during each of the first two quarters and pulled away during the final half from a Waynesboro squad that committed six turnovers.
Buffalo Gap improved to 4-5 overall and 3-4 in the district with its third win in four games. Waynesboro fell to 3-5 overall and 2-4 in the Shenandoah.
Jaden Humphrey gave Buffalo Gap a 6-0 lead on an 18-yard run at 7:33 of the first quarter after the teams traded fumbles and the Little Giants couldn't get off a punt from their 34.
The Bison raised the margin to 14-0 at 7:41 of the second period on a 16-yard Cooper Reed run, capping an 83-yard drive after Waynesboro was stopped on fourth down.
A Waynesboro punt return fumble at its 36 set up an Isaac Goff's 9-yard touchdown run at 6:34 of the third quarter for a 22-0 Bison margin.
Ironically, despite its turnovers, Wayesboro got its only touchdown on a Buffalo Gap mistake when the Giants' My'kel Maxey raced 83 yards after scooping up a fumbled pitch midway through the final quarter.
Buffalo Gap added late scores on a 39-yard Goff-to-Bradley Shiplett pass and a four-yard Zane Emurian run.
In addition to being stopped at the Buffalo Gap 17 before a long Bison early scoring drive, Waynesboro was halted on two end zone interceptions after reaching the Bison 20 and after reaching the 19 on the game's final possession.
Buffalo Gap closes its regular season next Friday at Stuarts Draft before having an off week leading into the postseason. Waynesboro hosts league opponent Wilson Memorial next Friday.
