Head coach: Nathan Bain, 1st season at Waynesboro
2024 season: 0-10, 0-6 Shenandoah District
2024 postseason: none
Key players to watch: Casey Breeden, Mason Holmes, Peyton Louk
2025 Overview: Nathan Bain takes over a program that has lost 23 straight games. Bain is the third head coach for the Little Giants in the past three seasons. Despite getting the job late, Bain has more than 30 players on the roster. “That number is pretty good for when we started,” said Bain. The Little Giants will have some experience as the senior class in the largest group on the roster. “I’m familiar with all those guys from coaching them on JVs. They’re invested in what we’re doing. We have great leadership in the senior class. Mason Holmes is a big-time leader along with guys like Casey Breeden and Peyton Louk. You’re going to see hard-nosed football team on Friday nights. We want to be physical. We’ll use the talent we have and try to put the guys in a position to succeed.”
Thoughts on district expansion of Alleghany, Rockbridge County: “I’m familiar with both Alleghany and Rockbridge. Our district is tough, and those two teams just add to it,” said Bain. “It’s unique to have three different classes in one district and there are playoff level teams in each class. We look forward to the competition.”
