The Grace Christian School cross country teams will run this Saturday in the VACA Championship Meet in Rocky Mount, hosted by Christian Heritage Academy.
The girls’ race could be decided between Grace’s Georgia Babish and Christian Heritage runner Skylar Krehbiel. According to Milestat.com rankings, Krehbiel has the top 5K time at 19:36.57 with Babish a close second at 19:44.28. They are the only two runners with sub-20 minute times.
Grace’s Hailey Johnson and Holly Kahn should be in the mix for Top 10 finishes in the race.
In the boys’ race Christian Heritage runner Wyatt Bowker has the best time in the Milestat rankings at 16:30.34. Cornerstone Christian’s Caleb Rice is next at 16:58.3, just ahead of Grace Christian’s Jed Derrick with a best time of 17:05.2
Grace runners Canon Reid and Isaac Ranck could also contend for Top 10 finishes.
On Nov. 6, the Warriors will compete in the VISAA Championship Meet to be contested at Panorama Farms.
This past weekend, the Warriors got a trial run in at Panorama Farms in the Albemarle Invitational.
Babish turned in a strong performance for the Grace girls, placing 22nd overall with a time of 19:49.8.
Derrick paced the Warriors boys with a time of 17:05.2 to place 51st overall in a field of 231 runners.
