Rockbridge Leaves Valley District For Shenandoah

2025 Overview: Zachary Rhodenizer returns to his alma mater to rebuild the program. Rhodenizer has an impressive coaching resume, working as an assistant coach at both Staunton River and Rockbridge. The past three seasons he was an assistant at Washington and Lee University. Expect the Wildcats to look to run the football. “I’m a gap-scheme type guy so that’s what we’ll do,” said Rhodenizer. “I worked here at Rockbridge with Mark Poston, so we’ll sling the football around a little bit as well.” Rhodenizer has more than 70 players in the program in his first year. “I spent a lot of time recruiting kids to play. The support of the community and administration has been great.” 

Thoughts on joining the Shenandoah District: “I’m familiar with most of the teams in the district,” said Rhodenizer. “The district has a lot of really good football teams. The teams are well-coached, and they have an identity. They have a plan on how they want to play the game.”
