Little Giants Sweep Meet at Staunton
STAUNTON – Waynesboro won both the boys and girls cross country races Wednesday hosted by Staunton H.S. at Montgomery Hall Park.
Waynesboro was the only school to field a full team in the girls race.
Waynesboro’s Amelia Kimmell was the individual winner with a time of 25:31.36. Little Giants teammate Jazarah Hartzler was second and Buffalo Gap’s Reagan Hartley placed third. Waynesboro’s Harper Roller and Reagan Allen rounded out the Top 5.
Positions 6-10 featured five Little Giants. Elliot Hall was sixth followed by teammates Lacey Keagy, Alexis Austin, Rachel Allen and Emma Carver.
Waynesboro won the boys race with 32 points, just ahead of Stuarts Draft with 34 points.
Waynesboro’s Miles Jolin and Grayson Norris finished 1-2 with Jolin posting a time of 18:30.92. Draft’s Easton Nice was third followed by Staunton’s Mason Shreckhise and Draft’s Matthew Berry.
Draft took the next two spots with Andrew Berry sixth and Tyler Austin seventh. Waynesboro’s Ross Williamson was eighth with Buffalo Gap’s Noah Lilly in ninth and Waynesboro’s Gavin Hodgson in 10th place.
Rockbridge boys, Wilson girls win
FISHERSVILLE – Wilson Memorial won the girls’ race Wednesday at Rockbridge took first in the boys’ race in a Shenandoah District cross country quad meet hosted by Wilson.
The Wilson girls finished with 36 points, one point ahead of Fort Defiance.
Wilson’s Thea Franklin won the girls’ race with a time of 20:46.84. Wilson’s Annabella Saunders placed sixth with Sydney Troxell eighth and Alison Troxell ninth.
Fort placed four runners in the Top 10, led by Henley Ann Coffman in second place. Molly O’Brien finished fourth with Irina Koniukhova in seventh and Violet Bass in 10th,
Riverheads’s Verity Jordan finished fifth overall.
Rockbridge won the boys’ event with a team score of 30 points. Wilson finished second with 47 points to edge Fort with 50 points.
Tyler Ludtke paced the Wildcats to the team title with a first-place time of 17:26.44.
Three Wilson runners finished inside the Top 10 with Julian Galiano leading the way in second place. Sage Campbell placed sixth and Zyler Kike took ninth overall.
Leighton Magalis paced Fort with a fifth-place finish. Wyatt Metcalfe finished seventh, just ahead of teammate Cooper Patterson.
Sam Ashby was the first Riverheads runner, crossing the line in 11th place.
