MileStat Ranks Top Returning XC Runners in Virginia

MileStat recently released its list of the Top 1000 girls’ and boys cross country returnees for the upcoming season. The rankings are based on the runners’ top time from a year ago. The rankings include runners from all six classes in the VHSL, plus runners from private schools and homeschools.Several local girls are included in the rankings, including runners from Waynesboro, Wilson, Fort Defiance, Riverheads and Grace Christian School.

Leading the pack of local girls is Waynesboro sophomore Macy Rowe, ranked #60 in the state. Grace Christian’s Georgia Babish is the second-ranked local runner, coming in at #212.

There will be some new competition in the Shenandoah District this season with the additions of Alleghany and Rockbridge County. Based on the Top 1000 returning runners list, Alleghany may be the team to beat in the Shenandoah with seven runners featured including Kiera Lowman, one of the top talents in the state who cracks the rankings at No. 4. Rockbridge has one runner listed, Dorothy Lewis at #447.

Several local boys are included in the rankings, including runners from Waynesboro, Wilson, Stuarts Draft and Grace Christian School.

The top runner from the city-county area is Waynesboro’s Grayson Norris who is ranked No. 143. 

Wilson has seven runners ranked in the Top 1000, led by Liam McMahon at #238. Grace Christian had two runners ranked, led by Jed Derrick at No. 571.

There will be some new competition in the Shenandoah District this season with the additions of Alleghany and Rockbridge County. Both teams have three runners featured in the Top 1000 with Rockbridge’s Tyler Ludtke ranked No. 130.
