RICHMOND – John Marshall blitzed Stuarts Draft with a first-quarter, 3-point barrage to take a quick double-digit lead and the Justices held off the Cougars the rest of the game for a 62-51 victory in the Class 2 girls’ basketball quarterfinals played at Huguenot High School.
John Marshall hit six 3-pointers to lead 25-12 after one quarter. The Cougars settled in and played JM on even terms the rest of the night to stay within striking distance. Draft outscored the Justices 14-13 in the second quarter to trail by 12, 38-26 at the half.
Both teams shot well from long range as both hit 10 shots from 3-point range.
Augusta Seibert and Ella Ott each scored 15 points for the Cougars. Ott hit five 3-pointers and Seibert knocked down three shots from long range. Ava Flippin added eight points for Draft.
John Marshall’s Yasmin Hall led all scorers with 24 points. She scored 14 points in the first quarter and had 18 points at the half. Tierra Herron had 16 points, 10 in the third quarter.
Stuarts Draft finishes the 2024-25 season with a 20-6 record.
