Grace Falls in State Title Match, 1-0

AXTON – Grace Christian School came up just short Saturday in the VACA Boys’ Soccer State Championship, losing to Blue Ridge Christian School, 1-0.

The match was the third meeting this season between the two programs with the schools splitting the regular season contests. The Warriors won the first meeting 2-1 with Blue Ridge winning the second contest 1-0.

Grace reached the title match with a 2-0 victory on Friday in the state semifinals over Westover Christian. The Warriors scored both of their goals in the first half.

The season is not over yet for Grace as they will play in the VISAA Division 3 state tournament. The Warriors will be the No. 7 seed and play No. 10 Tandem Friends in an opening-round matchup. Grace will host the contest on Halloween Friday.
