Buffalo Gap will introduce its 2025 Hall of Fame Class this Friday night at the Bison’s home football game. Set to be inducted this year are David Fitt, Daniel Moore and John Ritchey.
Fitt graduated in 1991 and competed in basketball and baseball for the Bison.
In basketball, he was a two-year letter winner. In baseball, he was a four-year letter winner and won numerous all-district and all-region honors while helping the team to multiple district championships. He graduated from Gap with multiple hitting records. Fitt attended Virginia Tech where he was a four-year starter on the baseball team. He was part of two conference championship teams with one NCAA tournament appearance.
Fitt lives in Churchville with his wife and many animals. He wants to say a special thanks to his supportive parents, especially his father for his tireless efforts to make him a better baseball player.
Moore graduated in 1998 and competed in football and baseball.
In football, he was selected as All-District and All-Region on offense, as a tight end and wide receiver, and defense, as a defensive end. In baseball, he was a four-year starter. He was a first and second team all-district selection, and first-team all-region as a centerfielder.
When he graduated, he held records in each sport. Moore as selected as the 97-98 Male Student Athlete of the Year.
He attended the University of Virginia, and lives in Charlottesville with his wife and four children. He teaches Latin and Greek at The Covenant School in Charlottesville.
Ritchey graduated from Buffalo Gap in 2003 and competed in golf and basketball.
In basketball, he played four years, but it was on the golf course where he made his mark. In golf, he competed four years and won many honors. In 2001 and 2002, he was the district and regional champion. He won the 2001 state championship with a score of 138, which at the time was a single A record.
He attended Concord University where he competed on the golf team for four years, winning numerous tournaments and participating in the Division II National Championship, finishing 16th/
He lives in Staunton, with his wife and is an operations manager at Target Distribution Center. He wants to say a special thanks to his mother and sisters for all their support.
