Falcons Hold Off Fort, 5-2, in Region 2B Softball Semifinals

FORT DEFIANCE – Central Woodstock blanked Fort Defiance over the final six innings Wednesday to defeat the Indians 5-2 in the Region 2B softball semifinals.

The Falcons hit the Indians with three runs in the top of the first, but Fort responded with two runs in its half of the first to make it a one run game.

With one out in the bottom of the first, Olivia Newman and Caroline Hanger drew walks. Newman eventually scored on a wild pitch and Hanger stole home to pull Fort to within one run, 3-2.

Fort finished with six hits, one each by Newman, Hanger, Taylor Shuler, Sherri Marshall, Riley Davis and Jadin Brown.
