Roanoke freshman Chase Snyder (Wilson) finished at 9-over par in his first college tournament, helping the Maroons finish fifth out of 19 teams at Transylvania Fall Invitational played on the Big Blue Course at the University Club of Kentucky. Snyder shot rounds of 77-74-74.
Roanoke College freshman Parker Blosser (Fort Defiance) helped the Maroons to a dominant first-place finish at the Bridgewater Eagles Cross Country Challenge. Roanoke swept the top five spots with Blosser placed third in his first college meet. Blosser finished with a time of 19:34.6 over the 6K course.
Eastern Mennonite freshman Karina Bondaruk (Buffalo Gap) played 24 minutes in her first college soccer match, a 3-0 loss to Greensboro. Bondaruk was on the field for 31 minutes in EMU’s 0-0 draw against Methodist.
Randolph-Macon freshman Caity Campbell (Staunton) saw 12 minutes of play in her first college soccer match in a loss to Mary Washington.
Eastern’s Mennonite freshman Felicity Jones (Staunton) played in both of the Royals’ first two volleyball matches of the season. Jones had eight digs in EMU’s 3-2 loss to Hood and seven digs in the team’s 3-1 loss to Drew.
Coastal Carolina’s Adam Groves (Waynesboro) placed first in the Elon University Opener. Groves finished the 6K event with a time of 18:19.8.
Emory & Henry’s Kasey Branch (Stuarts Draft) had five tackles, four solo, in the Wasps season-opening football victory over Glenville State, 45-17.
Southern Virginia senior Gracie Fulton (Riverheads) helped the Knights to a 3-0 mark at the Covenant Classic at Lookout Mountain, Ga. Fulton led the Knights in digs during the three-game trip with 51, an average of 4.64 per set.
Averett senior Dayton Moore (Riverheads) led the Cougars in assists as the team finished 1-3 in its first weekend. Moore finished the four matches with 78 assists, an average of 4.59 per set. She also contributed 42 digs, an average of 2.47 per set.
