2B Softball: Fort's Turner, Newman Named To First Team

A total of nine local players were recognized on the All-Region 2B softball team released Wednesday.

Shenandoah District champion Fort Defiance placed two players on the first team – third baseman Sara Turner and outfielder Olivia Newman. Also named to the first team was Stuarts Draft’s Addyson Dameron at designated player. Turner also earned second-team recognition as a pitcher.

Fort outfielders Caroline Hanger and Riley Davis were named to the second team along with teammate Sherri Marshall at second base. Stuarts Draft placed two players on the second team – pitcher Karlee Layne and catcher Sierra Whetzel. Riverheads’ shortstop Cheyenne Bottenfield also earned a second-team spot.
