Wilson Softball Shuts Out Cougars

FISHERSVILLE – The Wilson Hornets rode a strong pitching performance by Harper Tibbs to blank Stuarts Draft, 6-0, Thursday in Shenandoah District softball action.

Tibbs struck out 11 batters and allowed just five hits in her shutout performance. She did not walk a batter.

Wilson got all the runs it would need in the bottom of the first inning. Karter Fortune led off with a single and moved to third on a double by Kaylee Stevens. Katelyn Harman singled to right to put the Hornets on the scoreboard, 1-0. Natalee Chandler plated a run with a ground out for a 2-0 Wilson lead.

The Hornets added a run in the fourth when Chandler singled and moved to third on a double by Myleigh Glass. Chandler scored on a single to center by Tibbs for a 3-0 Wilson lead.

A single by Gabby Shaver to lead off the fifth and a walk to Fortune put two runners on. Harman chased both runners home with a double to left, increasing the lead to 5-0. Harman scored on a single by Chandler for Wilson’s final run. 

Fortune was 3-for-3 to pace Wilson’s 13-hit attack. Stevens, Harman, Chandler and Glass each finished with two hits. Harman led the Hornets with three RBIs.

Addyson Dameron and Sierra Whetsel each had two hits for Draft.
