Stenzel Gets "Homecoming" Game in NCAA Soccer Tournament

Former Robert E. Lee H.S. standout Kyle Stenzel will be playing close to home this weekend when the University of Massachusetts Minutemen travel to Charlottesville to meet No. 11 Virginia in the Round of 16 of the NCAA Division I men’s soccer tournament.
UMass defeated Evansville 2-1 in the opening round of the NCAA tournament and then knocked off No. 6 Penn, 2-1, to advance to a meeting with the Cavaliers.
Stenzel, a grad student at UMass, started his playing career at Virginia Tech before transferring to Division III Christopher Newport. At CNU, Stenzel was a two-team all-region selection and helped lead the Captains to a pair of appearances in the NCAA Division III national tournament.
This season, Stenzel has started 10 games for UMass and has one goal and one assist. His one assist came in the NCAA victory over Penn.
UMass (12-3-5) and Virginia 11-6-3) meet Saturday at 5:00 p.m. at Klockner Stadium.
