Monday Roundup: Riverheads Baseball Downs Raptors; Wilson Girls, Fort Boys Win On Tennis Courts

Riverheads 9, Rocktown 1 (Baseball)
GREENVILLE – The Riverheads Gladiators defeated Rocktown 9-1 Monday in non-district baseball action.

Levi Dunlap picked up the win, pitching four innings and allowing one run on two hits. He struck out seven batters.

Henley Dunlap was 1-for-3 with three RBIs and Landon Gibson went 2-for-3 and drove in a pair of runs. Logan Austin and Chase Donathan each stole two bases.

Fort Defiance 5, Stuarts 4 (Boys tennis)
FORT DEFIANCE – Fort Defiance edged the Stuarts Draft Cougars 5-4 in Shenandoah District boys’ tennis action Monday.

Winning singles matches for Fort were Johnny Whetzel, Charles Vandine, Landon Jarvis and Hunter Breeden. Whetzel and Vandine won in doubles play.

“I am beyond proud of this team. They never give up and keep fighting. I’m so glad they got their first win as a team, “ said Fort head coach Jay Turner.
