Many people associate Rodney Cullen with the sport of baseball. He was a longtime baseball coach and led Wilson Memorial to a state baseball title and several district titles.

Cullen passed away unexpectedly this past Saturday and Wilson Memorial High School will honor their beloved coach at Wednesday night's basketball game against visiting Maggie Walker.

Honoring Coach Cullen at a hoops event makes perfect sense. He was much more than a baseball coach. He also had a nine-year run as the Green Hornets varsity boys basketball coach.

Wednesday’s basketball game will be the first home sports contest since Cullen’s passing. Wilson will be donating 100 percent of the gate proceeds to the National Veteran Wheelchair Games. Coach Cullen volunteered his time during the summer to help at the Wheelchair Games.

You don’t have to be a Wilson fan to honor Coach Cullen’s legacy and memory at Wednesday’s game. Help the Hornets pack the stands in honor of Coach Rodney Cullen.
