Buffalo Gap Announces 2024 Hall of Fame Class

Buffalo Gap will induct its Hall of Fame Class of 2024 on Friday evening when the Bison host the Staunton Storm in Shenandoah District football action.
There will be a reception for the inductees in the high school’s wrestling room On Friday at 6:00 p.m. The inductees will also be recognized at halftime of the football game.
Holly Morgan Desper is a 2010 graduate who excelled in basketball and softball for the Bison. Desper played four years in the basketball program and was an all-district and all-region selection multiple times. She was a member of the 2008 and 2009 state championship teams and played in the VHSCA all-star game. She played softball for four seasons and was all-district four times. Desper attended Bridgewater College and was a two-time All-ODAC performer on the basketball court. She currently teaches at Buffalo Gap and coaches basketball and softball.
Gerald Good is a 1980 graduate and ran cross country, indoor track and outdoor track. Good won 62 track medals and 16 Shenandoah, Region C and state titles. He was the 1978 state champion in the two-mile. He was a 12-time state medalist and a district champion in six different events – 800, 1000, 1600, mile, 3200 and two-mile. Good was a member of the 1978 state championship track team. Good attended James Madison University where he ran track.
Rebekka Siron Lindsay is a 2005 graduate and played volleyball and tennis for the Bison. Lindsay played volleyball for four years and was an all-district and all-region selection each year. As a senior, she was the district and regional player of the year and played in the VHSCA all-star game. She also played tennis for four years and had a winning record each season. She was a member of the 2003 district championship team and the 2005 regional championship squad. She attended Radford University where she played tennis for two years. Lindsay has worked as an RN and teaches Health Careers at Massanutten Technical Center. She is currently the assistant coach for Gap’s volleyball team.
Chad Coffey coached basketball and baseball at Buffalo Gap. He coached in the boys’ program for seven years as head junior varsity coach and varsity assistant. Coffey was the girls’ basketball head coach for five seasons and led the Bison to state titles in 2008 and 2009. He received numerous Coach of the Year honors, including being named the region and state Coach of the Year two times. Coffey was head coach of the varsity baseball team form 2002-09 and led Gap to four district titles. He was named the district Coach of the Year three times. Coffey coached high school sports for 21 years and taught for 18 years in Augusta County. He currently works as the Executive Director for the Rockbridge Area Recreation Organization that serves Rockbridge County, Buena Vista, and Lexington.
Rob Maxwell coached eighth-grade basketball at Gap and left his mark on the gridiron where he coached the Bison for 10 seasons (2001-2010). He led Gap to four district titles and qualified for the region playoffs eight times. His teams won the Region B title twice and finished as runners-up once. In 2007 Maxwell guided the Bison to the Group A Division 1 state championship and was named the state Coach of the Year. Gap had a 26-game winning streak from 2006-08 with Maxwell at the helm. Maxwell also coached at Wilson Memorial H.S. and Fishburne Military School. He currently teaches science at Buffalo Gap.
